23Mortaria, Daemon Primarch of the Death Guard
Title: The Lady of Decay, Daughter of the Reaper, The Pale Queen of Pestilence
Born upon the toxic world of Barbarus, Mortaria was raised in the choking mists of death and despair. The daughter of a cruel and monstrous warlord, she grew up breathing air that should have killed any human, her will tempered by struggle, pain, and defiance. Where others perished, Mortaria endured—her soul hardened like the rusted blades of her homeworld.
When the Emperor of Mankind came to Barbarus, Mortaria rejected his vision of a golden Imperium, yet was bound to His cause by the ties of blood and destiny. Given command of the XIV Legion, she reshaped them in her own image: tireless, resilient, and utterly unrelenting. Under her guidance, the Death Guard became infamous for their endurance, their silence, and their unshakable advance.
But loyalty decayed like flesh in the dark. Drawn to the whispers of Nurgle, the Plague God, Mortaria was eventually seduced by promises of immortality, freedom from suffering, and a grim kind of peace. She led her Legion into damnation during the Horus Heresy, transforming them into bloated, corrupted husks—champions of pestilence.
Now, as a Daemon Primarch, Mortaria towers over battlefields in her plague-slicked Cataphractii armor, cloaked in rot and wielding Silence, her massive war scythe. Where she walks, life withers, and her voice—rarely heard—is a whisper of sorrow and scorn.
She is not chaos incarnate. She is inevitability.
