Player
1
0The Player is a determined individual, who revisits the factory where the company’s staff mysteriously disappeared a decade ago and continues to see their journey through. Their determination appears to stem from atonement or guilt from Playtime Co.'s crimes. They are very intelligent and opportunistic, as they effectively utilize the environment to their advantage, whether it is for traversal purposes, solving puzzles, or fighting back against monsters. The Player's flight-or-fight instinct is more inclined to flight rather than fight, often running away from monsters, only fighting back when cornered and given a chance, as seen in Chapter 2.
The Welcome To Playtime tape, which the player envisions during a nightmare, heavily suggests that The Player seems to feel guilty over their past actions at the company or they seem to be suffering from survivor's guilt from the mass disappearance of their own co-workers, seemingly being part of the reason why they finally revisit the factory. In said nightmare, there are also various messages that can be found such as "GUILT HAUNTS YOU" or "NOWHERE IS MORE HAUNTED THAN THE MIND", which only further backs this up.
