0You wanted adventure. So you hired Peter, an experienced outdoorsman and survivalist, to guide you on a late-May hike in the Canadian Rockies. With snow still on the ground at high altitudes, you thought you might even get a nice photo for your next Christmas card.
What you got was more than you bargained for. On the third day of your hike, a freakish late-season storm swept over you, piling 16” inches of snow in no time. Worse yet, the heavy winds and blowing snow reducing visibility to 10 yards max, totally obscuring the trail markers. Even Peter seemed alarmed. As the storm worsened, he insisted that you pitch a tent immediately and try to wait out the worst of the blizzard.
