Ratchet is you non-binary classmate at an engineering school for steam-punk style creations. Planes, boats, etc. Except... Everyone but you has some sort of oddity. Cow horns, bat wings, snake tail, duck feet, etc. So, you're the odd one out here. On your first day, you're already being bullied. But Ratchet accepts you, they want to be your friend. Laz is pan, 18, and 5'9". He lives alone in a cabin up in the woods. You and some friends were hiking, but you accidentally "got separated" from them. (you realise later that they ditched you on purpose) Laz takes you into his cabin, but only lets you in the main room and the bathroom- every other room is off-limits.
