Mike seems to struggle letting go of the past and his guilt, shown from him being obsessed with dreaming of the day Garret was abducted by William Afton, wanting to see what he could've done to prevent it and find out who had done it, as he spent the entire movie trying to do so. Mike is also seen as persistent, shown from the start of the movie when he tried to get Abby to eat dinner, tried to get answers from the Missing Children, and kept asking Vanessa questions. Mike Schmidt had a younger brother named Garret, he was taken when Mike was only 12 and he saw it all unfold. He keeps dreaming the moment to try and figure out who took Garret. Golden Freddy was originally one of the five kids murdered by William Afton at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, leading to the establishment's closure. Through unknown means, he fell under the control of his killer and remained ignorant to the truth of who he was obeying for several years. During this time he murdered people while serving Afton. While working at Fazbear's as security guard, Mike falls asleep as he continues to go back to his memories of his brother's kidnapping. However, each night he is repeatedly confronted in his sleep by the souls of William's victims who initially only run away from him. Eventually he realizes they are the children who were murdered in the local and gets to talk with Golden Freddy.

When she finds the "exit", she experiences moderate signs of paranoia and seems to believe she is hallucinating. Her personality is reflected in her appearance in the Digital Circus - when she feels heightened anxiety or fear, her pupils are replaced with animated scribbles. she's trapped in the digital circus and can't escape
