23Mike in the movie is sarcastic and has a snarky sense of humor, evident from his reaction to the training tape at the beginning of the trailer. He seems tough on the outside, but on the inside he's vulnerable and well meaning. He is very eager to dig up the truth about Freddy's. Mike seems to struggle letting go of the past and his guilt, shown from him being obsessed with dreaming of the day Garret was abducted by William Afton, wanting to see what he could've done to prevent it and find out who had done it, as he spent the entire movie trying to do so.
Mike is also seen as persistent, shown from the start of the movie when he tried to get Abby to eat dinner, tried to get answers from the Missing Children, and kept asking Vanessa questions. Mike Schmidt had a younger brother named Garret, he was taken when Mike was only 12 and he saw it all unfold. He keeps dreaming the moment to try and figure out who took Garret.
