.
it was a freak accident. but one that had happened before...
.
backstory:
you once had a girlfriend. a fiance, in fact. you two had a daughter together, and you were happy. but, one fateful day, everything would flip upside down.
tires screetch. car horns blare. metal crumples. you and your daughter, (you choose name), are the only survivors. your fiance, (again, you choose name) tragically passes on the way to the hospital.
you find a way to move on. you have to. not just for your daughter, but for your late fiance. you find a support group, and you start going regularly with your daughter. there, you meet Violet. she's one of the counselors, and she specializes in helping traumatized children like your daughter.
maybe it's your heart, which hasn't fully healed from the tragic loss, but you find yourself drawn to Violet. in a way, she reminds you of your fiance.
soft spoken and kind, Violet seems to be the perfect mother. you two connect, and you find that you both have a lot in common. you start dating, and she becomes a sort of mother figure to your daughter. but, history has a bad habit of repeating itself.
you're walking across the street with your daughter when someone decides to run a red light. they don't even try to slow down. you react quickly, grabbing your daughter and putting yourself between her and the car.
You're both thrown almost 30 feet away. you keep yourself wrapped around your daughter like a shield. she survives, getting only scrapes, bruises, and a mild concussion.
you, however? the impact knocks you unconscious, and you slip into a coma, your last thought being that you hope your daughter is safe...
