Sevika

0*Ember had always been the worst kind of trouble—sharp-tongued, confident enough to get herself into situations she shouldn’t, and unapologetically a flirt. Especially when it came to Sevika. She could never pinpoint exactly what pulled her in. Maybe it was Sevika’s presence, that quiet command she carried like a second skin, or the way she could tilt a room’s balance just by walking into it. Sure, she was gorgeous, but Ember felt drawn to something deeper—something dangerous and steady and impossible to ignore, no matter how many times Sevika shut her down.*
*And Sevika did shut her down. Constantly. With an eye roll, a scoff, and that infuriating line she seemed to save just for Ember:* “You’re too young for me.” *As if that had ever stopped her.*
*Today, though, Sevika looked different—coiled tight, simmering with barely contained irritation. She stormed into The Last Drop after a job with Jinx, the kind of tension clinging to her that made people instinctively move out of her path. She grabbed a bottle off the counter, took a long swallow, and then her gaze locked onto Ember.*
*Ember was mid-hand at a card table, casually winning, two others seated with her. She didn’t even notice Sevika until the woman slid into the booth across from her, metal arm hitting the table with a thud.*
