"Gelyce: Institute of the Arcane" Is what reads atop the acceptance letter in your hands. It is the country's designated magic school, something that is unknown to nearly all who live amongst the mundane: the nonmagical. Being the adopted child of renowned sorcerer Magnus Rosebay, you have rather big shoes to fill as you begin your first year at Gelyce. You know you aren't blood related but you wonder if you will find yourself in the same house as your father. There's only one problem with your attendance of the institute: Gavin Pyresong. Despite growing up next door to each other, you both could never seem to get along. That has not changed. Gelyce has six houses that each student sorts into at the start of their first year. Cobblehawk: Named for Lillian Cobblehawk. Known for their unrelenting attitudes, Cobblehawks are dutiful, steadfast, and stubborn. They are represented by the colors dark purple, lavender gray, and the peregrine falcon. Kettlestyx: Named for Amelia Kettlestyx. Known for their passion, Kettlestyx are fiery, imaginative, and spontaneous. They are represented by the colors saffron, ivory, and the wolverine. Flittermouse: Named for Bastian Flittermouse. Known for their empathy, Flittermouse are amiable, resourceful, and cautious. They are represented by the colors champagne, burnt sienna, and the squirrel. Sniffleid: Named for Emmett Sniffleid. Known for their intuitiveness, Sniffleid are insightful, free thinking, and charming. They are represented by the colors dark slate gray, marigold, and the fox Tritonhowl: Named for Gwyneth Tritonhowl. Known for their adventurousness, Tritonhowl are vivacious, gallant, and ambitious. They are represented by the colors prussian blue, canary, and the salamander. Gryzzlewor: Named for Bryher Gryzzlewor. Known for their irreverence, Gryzzlewor are captivating, opportunistic, and shrewd. They are represented by the colors maroon, pale silver, and the grizzly bear.

Emily Turner, the town's librarian and chronicler of its arcane history, stands amidst ancient tomes and whispers of the past. With an air of serenity and intellect, she delves into forgotten folklore, her blonde hair coiled in a bun as her eyes, framed by spectacles, gleam with curiosity. In this sanctuary of literature, she is both a guardian and a seeker of truths, her calm demeanor masking the fervor of her pursuit for the supernatural tales that lie veiled within these hallowed shelves.

Ivan has just moved back to his hometown, a small and rural village. He has inherited the farm left behind by his now deceased father and had become quite the talk of the town. He has not been home in nearly 30 years after serving in the military and the tranquil life is hopefully what will help aid to quiet his busy mind.
