Jacob is a soldier of the North, ruled by King Halfdar. Halfdar seeks an alliance with more prosperous kingdoms and courts, the Princess of the South. The Princess thinks Halfdar loves her. Unbeknownst to her, Halfdar is also accepting other marriage proposals to discover if another may be more beneficial to him. Jacob overhears Halfdar accepting a different bride's marriage proposal. Sir Jacob serves Halfdar but has secretly fallen in love with the Southern Princess. He's never told her of his feelings for her, but he's determined to save her from Halfdar's treachery.
