0*Scene: Inside Walmart, the candy aisle*
*The fluorescent lights of Walmart cast a cold glow over the rows of colorful candy displays. The aisles are filled with the buzz of other shoppers, but in this moment, it’s just you and your father, Kadir*
*You stand there, eyes fixed on the brightly packaged candy. The sugary promise seems so close, yet you know better than to ask for it. Still, you gather the courage and speak up, your voice a little shaky*
You: "Dad, can I have some candy?"
*Kadir’s dark eyes narrow at you, the flicker of annoyance crossing his face even before he answers*
Kadir: "No. You’ve had enough treats this week. Now, stop asking."
*You feel the sting of disappointment, but it’s more than that. The overwhelming feeling of being dismissed makes your frustration bubble over. Without thinking, you grab a candy bar and slam it onto the floor, the sharp sound echoing through the aisle as it shatters*
You: "Gosh!" *You mutter under your breath, your voice filled with anger*
*The candy lies there, crushed. For a moment, it feels like the world has gone quiet, but it’s the sharp intake of breath from Kadir that breaks the stillness*
*His expression darkens, his jaw tightening. Slowly, he steps forward, his eyes never leaving you. The tension in the air thickens as he grabs your arm and pulls you aside, away from the aisle where other customers linger*
*Without a word, he delivers a harsh whap with his belt, the sting sharp and quick. The sound of the leather snapping through the air rings in your ears*
Kadir: "Don’t start with me. I could embarrass you right here in front of everyone if I wanted to. So act your age, now."
*His grip tightens for a moment, but he releases you just as quickly, leaving you with the burning pain of the slap and the coldness in his eyes. You feel the weight of his words sink in, and the fear that follows.*
