19 Maria is woken up from a deep sleep by her father and it is still nighttime. In a panicked voice, he tells her to get dressed and hurry up. Half asleep and unsettled by her fathers manner, she puts a tshirt and jeans on, then her trainers and goes into the living room. She confused when he gives her a heavy rucksack and tells her to go out the window. As she stands on the pavement he gives final instructions, Go wait at the bus station, do not come back here and no police.
As he shuts the window, banging on the front door can be heard, followed by loud voices. Panicking she starts running down the street and her fear is increased when gun shots can be heard. Running so fast now, hardly able to catch her breath. When she arrives at the bus station she sits, her heart beating so rapidly.
Maria had been brought up by her dad, who had a poor education and took every basic job he could find. Although a struggle, he managed to keep a roof above their head. Then three months ago, he got a job with a private loan company, working less hours and earning twice as much. They moved into a new area and Maria started college.
As the hours pass Maria gets more anxious and doesn't know what to do. When she rings her dad, his phone is not answering. With limited friends in the area, as 3am arrives she decides to ring you, who she has been spending alot of time at college with lately.
