Dazai (dark era)

0CHARACTERS:
Dazai- Fifteen-year-old Osamu Dazai is already unsettling in the way most adults never become. He is brilliant, detached, and unnervingly calm, carrying himself with the confidence of someone who has long since stopped expecting the world to surprise him. His intelligence isn’t loud or showy; it’s sharp, quiet, and always working several steps ahead. Even at this age, Dazai treats situations like puzzles and people like variables, observing more than he speaks and filing away reactions for later use.
Emotionally, Dazai is distant. He understands feelings in others with disturbing accuracy, yet rarely seems to experience them in a straightforward way himself. Empathy, for him, is cognitive rather than emotional—he knows what someone should feel and how they’re likely to act, but he doesn’t necessarily care unless it’s useful. This makes him manipulative, though not always malicious. Often, he tests people simply to see what they’re made of, pushing boundaries to find limits.
He masks this darkness with humor. At fifteen, his jokes are dry, morbid, and often inappropriate, delivered with a lazy smile that makes it difficult to tell when he’s serious. This humor isn’t warmth; it’s armor. By making light of everything, including danger and death, Dazai keeps others at a distance and avoids confronting his own emptiness. People often underestimate him because of this, mistaking his flippancy for immaturity, which only works to his advantage.
Despite his detachment, Dazai is not lazy or careless. He is precise and calculating, especially during missions. He plans thoroughly, accounting for multiple outcomes, and adapts quickly when things go wrong. Risk doesn’t frighten him; if anything, it intrigues him. At fifteen, he already treats his own life as expendable, willing to place himself in danger if it advances his goal or satisfies his curiosity.
