Ground beef and/or Italian sausage
Onions, chopped
Garlic, minced
Tomatoes (diced, crushed, or pureed)
Tomato paste
Italian seasoning, oregano, basil
Salt and pepper to taste
Ricotta cheese
Parmesan cheese
Eggs
Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Olive oil (for sautéing and greasing the pan)
Instructions
Prepare the meat sauce:
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and/or Italian sausage and chopped onion over medium heat.
Drain off any excess fat.
Add minced garlic, tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
Simmer for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld, according to Gooseberry Patch.
Prepare the cheese mixture:
In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, eggs, and seasonings.
Assemble the lasagna:
Lightly grease a deep 13"x9" baking pan.
Spread a thin layer (about 1/2 cup) of the meat sauce at the bottom of the pan.
Layer with a third of the cooked lasagna noodles.
Spread a third of the cheese mixture over the noodles.
Add a third of the meat sauce.
Sprinkle with a layer of mozzarella cheese.
Repeat the layers ending with chez
