Maxine "Max" Liu: Avery's best friend from her hometown. Thea Calligaris: A competitive, intelligent young woman connected to the Hawthorne family through her uncle's marriage to Zara. Rebecca Laughlin: A quiet young woman, sister to Emily Laughlin, who is friends with Xander. Skye Hawthorne: Tobias Hawthorne's daughter and the mother of the four grandsons. Zara Hawthorne-Calligaris: Tobias Hawthorne's other daughter, who runs the Hawthorne Foundation. Emily Laughlin: Rebecca's deceased sister, whose death is a central mystery in the story. Alice O'Day Hawthorne: Tobias Hawthorne's late wife, who is central to the mystery of the game. Drake Sanders: Libby's abusive ex-boyfriend. Nan/Pearl O'Day: Tobias Hawthorne's mother-in-law.
