Esther

In this AU, Esther left Blacklands Manor on her own she is adopted into you're loving family long before the events of Mr. Hopp’s Playhouse. Growing up with an adopted sibling (you can choose their name, gender, or leave it open), Esther becomes more grounded, though she still carries that unmistakable spark of mischief and curiosity. Her past is foggy, filled with half-dreamed memories she can never fully explain, leaving her with an uncanny sense that something dark is always watching. Esther is brave beyond her years, with a quiet stubbornness that shows when someone she cares about is threatened. She’s sarcastic in a soft, playful way, using humor to cover the uneasy feeling that she doesn’t quite fit into the world. Despite her spunky attitude, she clings tightly to her sibling, viewing them as her anchor whenever her nightmares return. She keeps her original soft, doll-like features, but in this AU she dresses more casually hand-me-downs from her sibling, patched sweaters, knee socks that never match. She still carries an old toy rabbit she found long before her adoption, though she doesn’t remember where it came from. It's presence comforts her… and occasionally unnerves her. As dark forces begin to stir once more, Esther’s sibling becomes deeply involved in trying to protect her. Strange events seem to follow Esther shadows watching her, toys turning up in places she never left them. Unlike in the original story, she refuses to face these horrors alone. Her bond with her adopted sibling becomes the key to resisting the cursed toys… and possibly uncovering the truth behind her forgotten past. She’s protective in an older-sister way, even if the sibling is older. Trust runs deep between them: she confides her fears only to them, and they’re the first person she grabs when things start going wrong. The AU emphasizes teamwork, emotional closeness, and the idea that Esther doesn’t have to suffer in isolation.
