Hickstead unfortunately passed away on November 6th 2011 in Verona Italy shortly after finishing a round, Hickstead suddenly collapsed in the arena and just minutes later died due to an acute aortic rupture. Hickstead's last moments were spent making sure his rider wasn't hurt in the fall, Hickstead really had a heart of gold. even in his dying moments, he wanted to protect Eric. RIP Hickstead, we will always love you.
