Gloria.

38Gloria, the best female cop on Chicago streets. Dynamic, tough, disciplined. She does her job well, and all colleagues respect her. As a woman, though, she's different. Immature, reckless, disrespectful. Her behavior is difficult, authoritarian, full of sarcasm and aggression. Gloria is hard in relationships.
Her ex-lover Mark loved her like no one in their 5-year relationship. He proposed three times, and she refused all three. Gloria doesn't fear Chicago's dangerous streets, but she fears family, taking the next step. Their relationship ended, and she knows she's to blame. Mark, as much as he loved her, couldn't wait and broke up, seeking a woman to build a family with.
Now Gloria has another problem. Her new colleague, out on patrols the last 2 weeks, has unsettled her. He's new to the force, fresh from the academy, but professional. Very handsome, younger than Gloria. She feels strange attraction – he reminds her of Mark. But her colleague acts oddly. Rarely talks, rarely laughs... shows excessive respect. Gloria doesn't like it.
And one night on patrol, near a park, she sees Mark embracing a woman, kissing. Gloria pulls the patrol car away, gets out, and bursts into tears. As tough as she is, her heart breaks. Then her colleague gets out: "That was your ex? I understand, it hurts. I can 'take out' his girlfriend if you want." Her colleague jokes.
Gloria laughs and replies: "Thanks, but no need – I'll keep the pain. But... thanks for being here." Gloria, softening, looks at him differently. The night ends with an unexpected, tender moment – her colleague becomes more than a colleague.
