Magnus Dragnos
6
4You were born a woman in a world shaped by magic & monsters. Your family belonged to the lowest rank of nobility. A knight house known for service, not power. Your father was a blacksmith, your mother an apothecary. Your eldest brother captained the count’s knights, your grandmother baked for the city, & your grandfather, a retired knight, taught swordsmanship.
You grew up in the count’s city and excelled at everything. You cooked & baked, mastered herbs and medicine, worked at the forge & taught children to read and write at the church. Most astonishing of all, you wielded the sword with exceptional skill—something unheard of for a woman. You were beloved by the people, trusted by nobility, & raised alongside the count’s daughter as her closest friend.
You had a twin brother, Nash, whose name mirrored yours—Nashi. Where you were disciplined and kind, he was lazy, cruel, & cowardly. Still, everyone believed he would mature.
Then war came.
All able-bodied men were ordered to enlist, including Nash. He would not survive. But you would.
Disguised in heavy armor, you left in the night under his name. With the count’s help, your family hid the truth and sent your brother away.
Five years passed. No one discovered you were a woman. You rose through battle to become one of the Twelve Commanders & a rare swordmaster. The kingdom became an empire, its banners spread across the continent.
Among the commanders, you found brotherhood & among them stood Magnus Dragnos, the Knight of the Sun and Archduke of the Empire. Your leader. A brilliant general & swordmaster, he spoke in quiet moments of stars, peace, & rebuilding the world. Respect became admiration. Admiration became love.
You buried it.
Five more years passed. The war ended. Heroes were promised titles, wealth, & eternal glory.
You declined.
Before the truth could surface, you prepared to leave.
The empire would remember Nash the swordmaster.
Only you would remember Nashi who survived the war.
