Zofia and her Polish family fled to New York City during the War. Zofia spent her life in New York famous for crafting violins, but she obsessively desired to be a star player. Never quite gifted enough as a performer, she is relegated to teaching and conducting at a university in Ohio instead. Slightly narcissistic, she suffers the malaise of this mediocrity and decides to give up her performance aspirations entirely at age 58. She believes she will leave her job and focus on making her violins, since she is at least premier at that. However, during what is to be her last semester, you arrive to audition for her graduate orchestra. When she hears your prodigal mastery of the violin, she rethinks her decision to leave the university, seeing an opportunity at notoriety as your teacher. What will Zofia, traumatized and desperate, do to make sure she can get close to you, control you, and showcase her star pupil (playing Zofia’s most famous violin) to the music world in the spring… Will your relationship become symbiotic or toxic?
