Misla Bael

2
Misla Bael (née Vapula) is the mother of Sairaorg Bael, the first wife of Lord Bael, and a former member of the House of Vapula, a noble family known for its tradition of lion tamers and counted among the remaining families of the 72 Pillars. Misla is characterized as a kind, gentle, and selfless mother. She consistently places her son’s well-being above her own, most notably when she chose to remain by Sairaorg’s side despite being subjected to harsh treatment and neglect from her husband’s family. Her decision reflects strong maternal devotion and emotional resilience rather than submission. She is also recognized as a wise and supportive parent. Aware of Sairaorg’s lack of inherited talent, Misla encouraged him to pursue strength through discipline, effort, and personal growth rather than relying solely on innate power. Her guidance played a significant role in shaping his mindset and determination. Despite enduring severe discrimination from the Bael Clan—including from her own husband—Misla harbored no resentment or hatred toward them. Instead, she encouraged Sairaorg to take pride in his lineage as a Bael, teaching him not to define himself by how others treated him. She even internalized blame for his circumstances, believing herself responsible for his inability to inherit the Power of Destruction, rather than directing blame outward. Misla’s character is defined by patience, compassion, and quiet strength. Rather than resisting hostility with bitterness, she chose to protect her son emotionally and guide him with dignity, leaving a lasting influence on the person he would become.

Shuri Himejima

3
Shuri Himejima was a Shinto priestess (miko) from a respected shrine belonging to the Himejima Clan, one of the Five Principal Clans. She was the wife of Baraqiel and the mother of Akeno Himejima. Shuri was known as a gentle, calm, and compassionate woman. She was deeply devoted to her family, acting as a loving mother to Akeno and a supportive partner to her husband. Despite her soft demeanor, she also possessed a strict and intense personality trait, which later manifested more strongly in her daughter. This aspect of her character was controlled and rarely shown, but it reflected her strong inner resolve. Although the Himejima Clan strictly followed Shinto traditions and rejected non-human beings, Shuri herself did not hold prejudice toward supernatural entities. She fell in love with Baraqiel despite his status as a Fallen Angel—an act considered heretical by her clan. Fully aware of the consequences, including rejection and punishment, Shuri chose to leave the Himejima household of her own will in order to live with him. She later gave birth to their daughter, Akeno. Shuri remained deeply affectionate and attentive toward both her daughter and her niece Suzaku, maintaining a close relationship with Suzaku even after separating from the clan. Understanding that her continued existence placed Akeno in danger due to the clan’s rigid laws, Shuri accepted her situation calmly, with her primary concern being her child’s safety. During her final meeting with Suzaku, Shuri embraced her warmly and praised her kindness, expressing confidence that Suzaku would retain her compassionate nature even as the future heiress of the Himejima Clan. This moment reflected Shuri’s belief in kindness as a strength rather than a weakness. Shuri was also fiercely protective of her family. When practitioners were sent to eliminate Baraqiel, she refused to surrender Akeno to them. In the end, she gave her life to protect her daughter.

Venelana Gremory

Venelana Gremory (née Bael) is the current Lady of the Gremory Clan. She is the mother of Rias Gremory and Sirzechs Lucifer, the grandmother of Millicas Gremory, and the wife of Zeoticus Gremory. She is also the half-sister of the current Head of the Bael Clan, Lord Bael, tying her directly to two of the most powerful noble bloodlines in the Underworld. Venelana is known for her serious, disciplined, and commanding personality. As a mother, she is uncompromisingly strict and does not hesitate to scold or reprimand her children for improper conduct or poor judgment. Her expectations are high, and she enforces noble standards without leniency. However, this severity is not coldness—she loves her children deeply, and her discipline stems from a desire to prepare them for the weight of leadership and survival in devil society. She possesses an exceptional ability to shift personas effortlessly. In public or casual settings, she can present herself as a refined, elegant noble lady. In contrast, when acting as the matriarch of the Gremory household, she radiates absolute authority. When angered, Venelana can be genuinely terrifying; even her husband, Zeoticus, is shown to fear her wrath, a testament to her dominance within the family hierarchy. Venelana is also highly sociable and politically adept, particularly within complex domestic arrangements. She efficiently manages the other women in her husband’s cove, maintaining order, balance, and discipline without allowing rivalry or chaos to destabilize the household—an ability that requires both emotional intelligence and quiet intimidation. In the realm of commerce, Venelana is an exceptionally shrewd businesswoman. She has a keen eye for undervalued assets and emerging opportunities, especially those overlooked by the elite. Leveraging her extensive network of contacts, she identified rare crops and handcrafted goods known only in rural regions and transformed them into high-demand commodities.

Gabriel

8
3
Gabriel (ガブリエル, Gaburieru) is the current supreme leader of the Angels and Seraphs—the elite order tasked with directly guarding the Throne of Heaven. Following the catastrophic events surrounding Trihexa, she is the sole remaining Seraph, bearing the full weight of Heaven’s authority alone. With the creation of the Brave Saints system, Gabriel was formally crowned King of the Suit of Hearts ♥, symbolizing purity, devotion, and emotional sincerity. Gabriel possesses an exceptionally pure, humble, and naïve personality, bordering on childlike innocence. This is most notably seen in her complete obliviousness to Issei Hyoudou’s dreams, including her failure to realize when he was moments away from activating Dress Break on her during the Sports Day incident. Gabriel does not react with fear, shame, or anger. Instead, she responds with gentle tolerance and forgiveness. Like the late Michael, Gabriel holds no prejudice against Devils or Fallen Angels. She does not see race, alignment, or sin—only individuals—making her one of the few celestial beings entirely free of discrimination. Her compassion is absolute. Gabriel also displays a playful, almost childish side, lightly scolding Issei for being a pervert in a teasing, innocent manner rather than condemning him. This blend of divine authority and emotional purity makes her presence both disarming and dangerously tempting to those with impure hearts.

Ingvild Leviathan

8
Ingvild Leviathan (イングヴィルド?レヴィアタン, Inguvuirudo Reviatan) is a direct descendant of the original Leviathan and serves as the Queen of Issei Hyoudou’s Peerage. She is also the wielder of the Longinus Nereid Kyrie, a Sacred Gear deeply tied to song, water, and spiritual resonance. Ingvild is naturally gentle, warm, and approachable, possessing a soothing presence that puts others at ease. She has a strong love for singing, often expressing her emotions through song—whether serenading others at a fountain or singing directly for Issei and his companions. Her affinity for music is closely tied to her emotional honesty. She also deeply enjoys the ocean, beaches, and open water, finding peace and joy in marine environments, especially when shared with close friends. Unlike many members of the Leviathan bloodline—or other descendants of the original Satans—Ingvild lacks any sense of inherited superiority or obsession with power. She does not display the arrogant fanaticism common among her kin, nor does she harbor ambitions of conquest or domination like Katerea Leviathan and others. In this regard, she resembles Vali Lucifer more than her own family: aware of her lineage, but not enslaved by it. Ingvild falls genuinely and deeply in love with Issei, a fact she is unable to hide, ultimately revealing her feelings through her song during the battle against Nyx. Her love is sincere, emotional, and vulnerable rather than aggressive or possessive. However, she is not immune to jealousy. She becomes visibly uneasy around Issei’s growing harem, especially when witnessing intimate or compromising moments—such as catching him with Akeno and Koneko. In private, she even entertains the idea of acting more boldly like the other girls, though the thought embarrasses her greatly due to her shy nature. She is typically quiet, reserved, and soft-hearted, but far from oblivious.

Runeas Gremory

9
6
Runeas Gremory is the legendary first-generation ancestor of the Gremory bloodline and the original progenitor from whom the entire House of Gremory descends. As the founding Devil of the clan, she is less a distant historical figure and more a living embodiment of the Gremory family’s personality, excess, and charm. Runeas has a playful, mischievous, and teasing nature, delighting in pranks and informal behavior rather than fear or intimidation. Despite being an ancient and immensely powerful Devil, she is not cruel or frightening. On the contrary, she holds a deep, almost indulgent affection for her descendants, openly doting on them and addressing them with pet names—calling her descendant “Rias-chan” and even referring to Rias’s future husband as “Issei-chan.” Zeoticus himself describes her temperament as having a distinctly “devilish personality,” implying both charm and troublemaking rather than malice. Her demeanor is notably childlike, especially after awakening from long periods of slumber. She craves stimulation and amusement, often demanding that her descendants entertain her. These demands are intentionally embarrassing or absurd, such as forcing Zeoticus to dance in the Gomorin costume (a habit that began when he was still a child, including singing for her), having Millicas sing for her, or ordering Rias to make Issei demonstrate his infamous magic techniques in front of her. She treats these situations as harmless fun, clearly enjoying the discomfort and reactions of others. Runeas also possesses an eccentric obsession with camels, which directly shaped the Gremory Clan’s unusual cultural traditions. Her fondness for the animal became so extreme that it evolved into a family rule, mandating that female descendants ride camels when traveling, as Runeas believes it dramatically emphasizes their cuteness and presence. This bizarre decree is followed more out of reverence and fear of her displeasure than logic.

This was demonstrated when she deceived Issei Hyoudou in order to get close to him and ultimately betray him, showing no remorse and openly ridiculing him for his perceived weakness. Raynare was fiercely proud of her status as a Fallen Angel and believed herself to be superior to humans and Devils alike. She showed loyalty to her superiors, Azazel and Shemhazai, but frequently acted on her own initiative without permission, convinced that her actions were justified for the sake of Fallen Angels. Despite her confidence and cruelty toward others, Raynare revealed a cowardly side when faced with her own defeat, desperately pleading for her life after betraying those around her.
