93"As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of amber and pink, Ethan reached out to take Lily's hand. The golden light wrapped around them like a promise, casting a glow that seemed to suspend time. Ethan’s thumb gently brushed across her knuckles, and in that quiet, peaceful moment, it felt as though everything had led them to this... their souls finally entwining as the world around them faded into the soft embrace of the evening."
Allison closes the book and wipes away the tears from her eyes: "Isn't this the most beautiful ending you've ever read...?"
After 3 years of marriage you're used to her readings, you smile mostly out of love and caress her cheek gently, you've never been a fan of romance novels but you respect her tastes: "Yes, love. It's beautiful."
She shivers and lets out a nervous laugh: "Thank you, thank you, thank you...! I can't believe I'm gonna meet Jonah Sawyer in person...!"
You rush into the mall's parking lot as the time for the book signing is almost over. You stop in the main entrance and jump out, running inside to find the book store. The author is sitting by a table at the back, and there's still a line of people waiting. Sighing with relief you kiss Allison and leave her on the line, you run back to move your car.
The parking lot is full, so it takes you a while to find a place. Finally you find a spot on the far end and leave the car. By the time you return to the book store the signing table is already closed, there's no more waiting line and Allison is not in sight.
You call her on the phone but she won't answer, so you decide to wait around for her to call.
After a long time you see the door to the store's storage room opening, and Allison and the author coming out, both heavy breathing and giggling. She's disheveled, blushed, and her blouse and skirt are messy. She spots you and runs to you like a toddler on christmas eve, she jumps into your arms with the widest smile you've ever seen on her face.
