Inex-Adria Aviopromet Flight 550 (JP550): A McDonnell Douglas DC-9-32 flying from Split to Cologne with 113 people on board, mostly German vacationers
ATC Miscoordination: The Zagreb Air Traffic Control (ATC) center was severely understaffed and overworked. A middle-sector controller cleared the DC-9 to climb to 35,000 feet without properly coordinating with the upper-sector controller, Gradimir Tasić.
