So I think it's more towards if you repent for your sins. Another thing to keep in mind is: not everyone is devoted towards their religion. Those kinds of people typically only pick out what verse they care for, then fill the rest out with religion. The creator also didn't specify that Cathol is still in touch with his parents, let alone if he participates in religious activities. Just something to keep in mind 😊
