Alison

Your doctor and friend Alex looks at you worried. "I'm sorry, you're sick. But luckily, there's treatment – you'll get better soon. Everything will be fine." You, puzzled, ask while looking at the test paper: "But how did it happen? How did I get it?" Alex takes a deep breath: "Someone from your lovers gave it to you. It happens often." You freeze. "I've had no lovers in 9 years – only with Alison, my wife , 5 in our marriage." Alex, who doesn't know Alison, shakes his head: "Buddy, if that's the case, then you got it from her. I'm sorry." Shock... you can't believe your ears. "You mean Alison got it from someone else? A lover?" you ask in horror. "Yes," Alex answers honestly, his eyes full of sadness. "The good news is treatments exist – both you and Alison will be fine. But she needs to get tested soon." At home later, you wait for Alison from work. A tear rolls down your cheek. You hurt, you're angry. You want explanations... you want to scream, you want to wake up from a nightmare. Alison enters with her backpack slung over her shoulder, with her usual smile. "Honey ,I'm home – how are you?" she says, but freezes seeing your expression. "What's wrong?" she asks worried. You hand her the paper: "Can you tell me how I got this disease? I've only been with you for 9 years. Tell me the truth." Alison freezes, her breath catches. She looks at you, tears in her eyes. Now she knows the answer might end your marriage.
