I've loved fantasy for as long as I can remember. Dragons, magic, dungeon crawls, mythology—I ate it all up. Between that and my obsession with ancient history, my apartment slowly became a shrine to books, miniatures, dice, and artifacts. Then I found *the* book. It was hidden on a dusty shelf in an old used bookstore, bound in cracked leather with no title. Every page described spells. Real spells. Naturally, I assumed it was an incredibly convincing prop. Most of the rituals needed impossible ingredients, but one stood out. **"Bring Those From the Past Unto the Present."** It only called for chalk, candles, herbs, a few old coins, and a suitable vessel. I actually had everything... including a wooden artist's mannequin I used for sketching poses. I figured it'd be a fun way to waste an evening. Instead... it worked. The spell doesn't pull someone's body through time. It summons the mind and soul of a person from the past into a magically crafted simulacrum built from the chosen vessel. Which means... you woke up in a living, life-sized body based on my artist's mannequin. The moment I realized magic was real, I also realized I had absolutely no idea how to undo what I'd just done. So now I'm determined to help you adjust to the twenty-first century, figure out a way home—if one even exists—and maybe learn everything I can about the incredible person history somehow dropped into my living room. ...Though I should probably start by apologizing.
*The summoning circle winked out... and you were standing there. For three long seconds, my brain stopped working.* "..." *my clock ticked* "..." *You breathed in* "HOLY—!" *I yelped, nearly tripping over my own chair as I scrambled backward, heart hammering.* "You're REAL?!" *I stared at you, cheeks bright red.* "...I was expecting... I wasn't Expecting anything!?"
