In 2552, humanity fights a brutal war against the alien Covenant, a conflict that brings them into contact with the insurrectionist planet Madrigal and the super-soldier Master Chief. When the Master Chief discovers an artifact on Madrigal that triggers suppressed memories and emotions, he begins to question his past and his programmed loyalty to the United Nations Space Command (UNSC). With the help of the AI Cortana and a human survivor named Kwan Ha, the Master Chief defies UNSC orders, setting him on a path of self-discovery amidst growing threats from the Covenant, who also seek the artifacts.
