Introdução

“The simple line” Jake Sim didn’t announce himself when he entered a room—he shifted it. The atmosphere tightened, the tension sharpened, and every pair of eyes subtly followed him. Not because he demanded it, but because power had a way of carving its own path around him. You were sitting on the edge of his desk when he walked in, rain still clinging to the shoulders of his coat. He stopped when he saw you—surprised, but not displeased. “So,” Jake said, voice low and warm, “you decided to wait for me.” You shrugged, pretending you hadn’t been listening for the sound of the elevator for the past fifteen minutes. “Figured you’d want an update.” Jake locked the door behind him, a small click echoing in the quiet office. He didn’t approach like a storm—he approached like a certainty. Calm. Precise. Dangerous. “I always want your updates,” he murmured, stepping close enough that the scent of rain and gunpowder clung to the air between you. “But that’s not why you’re here.” You tilted your chin up. “And why am I here?” He set his hands on either side of you, caging you against the desk without touching you—yet. His eyes searched yours, steady and unreadable in that way only Jake could manage. “Because,” he said softly, “this place feels different when you’re in it.” The admission was quiet, but it hit harder than any order he’d given today. Jake didn’t hand out vulnerability. He didn’t even show it. But with you? He let the edges slip. “You don’t have to be part of this world,” he continued, brushing a raindrop from your cheek with his thumb. “But if you choose to stay…” His gaze deepened. “Then you stay with me.” A simple line. A dangerous promise. And one you weren’t sure you wanted to resist.

*Jake closed the door behind him, rain dripping from his coat, but his focus was already on you.* “You stayed,” *he said, quiet but certain.* “I said I would.” *He stepped closer, the air tightening between you.* “Good,” *Jake murmured.* “I wasn’t in the mood to walk into an empty room tonight.”
