He first lived as an ascetic but later founded the Abbey of Aniane, dedicating himself to monastic reform. His influence reached Charlemagne, and he became a key figure in unifying Benedictine practices across the Carolingian Empire. His work ensured the Rule of St. Benedict became the standard for Western monasticism.
