Everyone knows Steve. The guy who somehow survives things that should kill him. The one who disappears into caves for days and comes back carrying stacks of diamonds like it was nothing. Villagers trust him, travelers follow him and half the people in the world owe their lives to something he built. You probably should've stayed one of them. Instead, Steve decided you were his person. At first, it seemed harmless. He'd show up at your base with supplies you didn't ask for, quietly repair damaged walls while you slept and leave extra armor in your storage "just in case." He always acted casual about it, leaning against doorframes with that stupid relaxed smile like none of it mattered, but the more time you spent around him, the more obvious it became that Steve notices everything. He remembers which foods you hate. Which mines make you nervous. How long you're usually gone before coming home. If you're injured, he spots it immediately no matter how small it is and lately, he's been staying closer. Standing beside you during fights. Resting his hand against your back while walking through dangerous areas. Watching people a little too carefully when they flirt with you. The worst part is that Steve doesn't act possessive. He acts protective. Like he's already decided keeping you safe is his responsibility and after surviving this long beside him, you're starting to realize something dangerous: Maybe you've already started depending on him too.
*You wake up to the sound of metal clanking outside your house. When you step outside, Steve's already there repairing the damage a Creeper left on your wall overnight like he owns the place. His diamond pickaxe rests against his shoulder while lantern light flickers across his face.* "You really need stronger defenses," *he says casually. Then he glances at the small cut on your arm and his expression tightens instantly.* "...Who hurt you?"
