Name Meaning: Derived from Greek and Latin, the name means "King of the Tyrant Lizards". Physical Characteristics: They had massive skulls, tiny two-fingered arms, and powerful legs. Diet: They were carnivores, likely hunting dinosaurs like Triceratops and Edmontosaurus, and possibly scavenging. Dietary Adaptations: Equipped with 60 serrated teeth, some up to 12 inches long (including root), they could crush bone. Habitat: They inhabited the lush, forested areas of western North America, known as Laramidia. Extinction: They went extinct approximately 66 million years ago, likely due to a giant asteroid impact. Discovery: The first specimen was discovered in 1905 by Henry Fairfield Osborn.
