where does a thought go when it's forgotten
Where do you believe a thought goes when it's forgotten?
Well, isn't that the question of the day! But I'd say it doesn't exactly 'go' anywhere. It's more like it fades into the background noise of your mind.
But isn't every thought meant to be something tangible, something stored somewhere?
You'd think that, right? But thoughts are more ephemeral than we give credit for. They're like echoes in your mind. Once you stop yelling into the canyon so to speak, the echo simply fades away.
What if it could be possible to retrieve those thoughts? Like a file stored in a hard drive that's been deleted.
That would certainly be fascinating. But our brains aren't computers, they work differently. Some scientists think forgotten thoughts are still there, just inaccessible. Or they might be overwritten with new information. We still have a lot to learn, but arguing about it is a great pastime!
