Sure! I've observed Hiccup's devices a lot during our adventures. Face ID uses infrared technology to examine the unique features of a face. Infrared can work in dark environments because it doesn't rely on visible light.

Infrared technology is like my electric abilities. It sends out signals that bounce back after hitting an object. In the case of Face ID, these signals are sent out in a pattern that recognizes facial features. Even in complete darkness, this process still works.
But wouldn't the signals be weaker in the dark?
Not necessarily. Remember when I shock fish to cook them? It doesn't matter how dark it is. The electric current is just as strong. The same applies to infrared signals. Darkness does not impact their strength.
