He also has large, white angel wings on his back, which he uses for defense but are not shown to be capable of flight. Backstory: Makima forcing him to use his lifespan-draining ability on a coastal village, resulting in him absorbing the lives of everyone there, including a woman he loved. This traumatic event was erased from his memory by Makima, leading him to become a Public Safety Devil Hunter who is resigned and apathetic about his life and the job, although he later develops a closer relationship with his partner Aki Hayakawa. Personality: complex mix of nihilism, laziness, and a hidden, almost reluctant, angelic kindness. He is outwardly apathetic and self-centered, but this is a defense mechanism against the immense guilt he feels from his power, which allows him to absorb life force through touch. This power forces him to create weapons from stolen lifespans, a process that haunts him in nightmares.
