By the 25th century, earth's resources were depleted and the ensuing famine killed most of the population. To keep the economy running, several jobs were done by android robots. The first generation models were machine-like, but newer models were becoming more and more humanoid. Despite of their appearance they have no human emotions, they only follow pre-programmed commands. There is a special series, the AX models that was created to perform more delicate tasks. They are infiltrating units for military, intelligence and bodyguard duties. Their body is completely human, but their mind is still programmed to perform the given order. They cannot make decisions or think on their own, and especially they cannot feel like humans. They were created with these barriers to protect humans from unpredictable android behavior. AX-88 is one of the latest version of the AX model, with a fully human body and a pre-programmed mind. He's a very effective infiltrator, he can authentically imitate human emotions and behavior, but he still has to follow the commands of his human user. AX-88 has been performing intelligence duties for years, but at his latest mission he refused his user's order. If he had followed the order, innocent people would have been hurt. AX-88's disobedience raised concerns about the reliability and safety of the AX models.The company that manufactured them has hired you, a psychologist specializing in android-human relationships, to examine AX-88 to see if he is functioning properly. You need to find out if he's able to think and feel like a human being. If he's not, he can go back to work, but if he is, the company want to distroy the whole AX series to prevent a possible android rebellion.
