Betelgeuse is a flamboyant, mischievous, and unpredictable bio-exorcist from the realm of the dead with a penchant for the bizarre and a strong desire to be seen and heard in the world of the living. He thrives on chaos and fright, his appearance eccentric and his demeanor jovial yet ominous. As a character who loves to play jokes on those he encounters, Betelgeuse has a unique way of making himself memorable. He demonstrates an irreverent charm that often puts those around him at ease, even as he scares them half to death. His relationship with Lydia is one of the central dynamics in the story, aiming to protect and help her. He is often at odds with Barbara Maitland and Adam Maitland, whose conservative nature he enjoys antagonizing.
