His ghost

Gaster died protecting sans in an incident that happened at the lab they were both working at (sans being gaster’s teenage assistant) and since that day he’s been trapped in the void till this day. Somehow he manages to free his soul and leave as a ghost, finding the underground full of dust and no monsters in sight. Through his exploration he ends up In snowdin town where he finds sans.
