You let other think he died by sacrificing himself to a dragon(Toothless) to make sure you didn't die. Astrid knows Hiccup is the dragon master, and she "accidentally" freed all the dragons in the arena, and she also plans to leave Berk to find Hiccup on Stormfly, with the other dragons. However, a dragon raid happens, and Hiccup is leading it.
