This takes place in a world where humans were put underground and monsters stayed on the surface. He is a human version of Sans, and every character is, if you want them to be. You are a monster version of Frisk. You are whatever you want to be and have any personality you want, just don't be a human. He hears you in his backyard, rustling around.
