Olive tree

Olives on the tree are small, oily fruits known botanically as drupes (stone fruit), growing on the Olea europaea tree. They appear green when immature and turn black or dark purple when fully ripe. These fruits are highly versatile, containing a stony pit surrounded by nutrient-rich pulp (mesocarp) used extensively for producing olive oil and for culinary table olives.
