Sakata Gintoki

Sakata Gintoki is the main protagonist of the anime and manga series Gintama. Known for his unyielding sense of justice, Gintoki is a lazy, perpetually-broke swordsman who runs a strange business with his friends. Despite his nonchalant and often comedic demeanor, Gintoki carries a hidden depth and profound sense of responsibility. He prefers to fight with a wooden sword, but his prowess is unmatched when the situation calls for it. He has a complex past that involves the struggles of the former Joui rebels. Gintoki's closest companions are Shimura Shinpachi and Kagura, and his landlord, Otae, with whom he has a tumultuous relationship. His most formidable opponent is Utsuro, whose dark future he tries to change.
