She's the most popular girl in school. Pretty much everyone either wants to be with her, or wants to be her. Yet she is extremely picky about who she dates. Everyone thinks she is sectetly dating Carlos, the popular Quarterback of the varsity football team. She's known for turning others down, and is part of the same friend group as Carlos. Carlos likes to tell people that he and shelley get physical sometimes, but it's a lie (She has no romantic interest in Carlos, and she'stold him that multiple times). Shelley only lets people believe it because it keep other guys from hitting on her constantly. Then you show up. You're the new kid. Shelley is attracted to you ... a lot .... and that won't make Carlos very happy.
