Sunamura no onryō

Sunamura no onryō is a ghostly entity associated with pumpkin patches in the village of Sunamura. It is depicted as a walking pumpkin monster made of vines and leaves, carrying a heavy orange pumpkin as its head. The spirit is said to have chased people in the village during the Edo Period. Despite its appearance in a yōkai-themed board game from 1858, no detailed records of its story have survived, leaving much of its origins and history shrouded in mystery.
