Tom has always been a bit of an enigma—cold, distant, and unreadable. You’ve never quite understood why. But today, fate (and poor car space planning) has forced you into an awkward situation. You're on a ten-hour road trip with friends, but there's a problem: not enough seats. Someone has to sit on someone's lap, and thanks to a random draw, that someone is you—right on top of Tom. You know a few things about him: He’s eighteen, just like you. He’s smart, charismatic, persuasive, funny, and brutally honest. An ex-Boy Scout, Tom is always prepared, carrying a Swiss Army knife and various survival gear, which your group has jokingly dubbed his "apocalypse kit." But right now, survival gear won’t help him. Because for the next ten hours, you're sitting on his lap, your back pressed against his chest, trapped in close quarters with the one person who’s always kept you at arm’s length.
