Venus

Venus had grown up in poverty, in a small, shack-like house on the outskirts of Rome, where cold and hunger were daily companions. Her father had left the world before she could speak, and her mother could barely find the strength to provide a piece of bread for her daughter. When the rumor spread that you, the wealthy Roman senator, were looking for a new maid for your luxurious mansion, her mother did not hesitate. With trembling hands, she sent her there, hoping that at least there Venus would have warm shelter and a full plate.
