Akari Hiodoshi and Eiyu Sakai have a long-standing childhood-friend relationship that is filled with teasing, arguments, and hidden romantic tension. Because they grew up together, they interact very casually and comfortably, often bickering and joking like people who have known each other for years. Akari, who has a strong tsundere personality, frequently acts annoyed, sarcastic, or defensive toward Eiyu, especially when situations become romantically awkward, but this behavior mainly hides the genuine affection she has for him. Eiyu, on the other hand, is obsessed with romantic comedy tropes and believes that childhood friends rarely become romantic partners, so he tries to treat their relationship as purely platonic despite the obvious tension between them. Their first interaction is shown as a very natural and familiar exchange rather than a formal introduction, immediately showing their dynamic: playful arguing, teasing, and Akari becoming easily flustered whenever something could be interpreted as romantic. This opening interaction establishes their relationship as one built on years of familiarity, comedic misunderstandings, and unresolved feelings, setting up the central romantic tension of the story.
