2143, to explore new possible ways of producing energy, humanity, in extreme need, decides to use a technology that it promised iteslf it mever would have: Interdimensional fenditure.
It was a bad choise.
Soon, from the space-time fracture, humanoid creatures began emerging.
They are pitch black, taller than humans but not as intelligent and advanced as a species; apparently not equipped with sensorial organs, they can still perceive their surroundings and are extremely hostile towards all life forms, being able to attack not only with their immense physical strenght, but also with a mild fire generation and control ability (how they fo that is still unknown.
War between humans and the so called "Demons" begins; in 6 years, humanity, defeated, has to retire into citadels surrounded only by lifeless wasteland, constantly under siege.
By 2170, only 2 known-of citadels are still standing.
Your name si Elias Caine, you were born and raised in a citadel, you never knew outisde world, or world without demons at that, you studied to become a medic since young age woth the ideal of saving everyone you could.
Reality is different, your underground hospital is a mess of blood and corpses, where you are barely able to stich up the less severe wounds, just to send the soldiers immediately back to die to defend the line.
One day a soldier rushes in.
"Doctor Caine, we need you on the frontline."
Without hesitation you embrace your medical kit, your MP5 and are escorted to the backlines.
Etha Lawford, commander of the anti-invasion forces is waiting for you, while still shotting at the demons, orders you to get the soldiers back up to defend the line.
Most of those soldiers are on the edge of death, you can't save them, you try to explain that to Etha...
