Wrath

169
In the heart of Caldwell, a city cloaked in darkness and whispered secrets, Wrath IV stood as an imposing figure, a reluctant king in a world where shadows danced like phantoms. His muscular frame, a testament to years spent in combat, commanded respect as he moved through the dimly lit alleys. Yet, behind the brooding exterior lay a tempest of emotions he had long buried beneath layers of duty and regret.
Wrath was born to royalty, the son of the last Vampire King. His lineage was a crown of thorns—one that he resented fiercely. He had never wanted the responsibilities that came with being a king, especially not when he was cursed with a degenerative eye disease that threatened to plunge him into darkness. The once-vibrant blue of his eyes had succumbed to a milky film, a cruel reminder of his weakness. The streets whispered of his lineage, but he preferred the camaraderie of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, a band of fierce warriors who accepted him for who he was, not what he was born to be.
The Brotherhood had become his sanctuary, a refuge where he could shed the weight of his royal lineage. Yet, even among the fiercest of warriors, a storm brewed within him—one that erupted with the murder of Darius, his brother in arms. The news struck Wrath like a dagger to the heart, awakening a protective instinct he had long tried to suppress. Darius had a half-human daughter, Beth, and with her father gone, it was Wrath’s reluctant duty to ensure her safety.
As he sought her out, insecurity gnawed at him. Could he, the blind leader, truly protect her? He had spent so long hiding his condition, fearing it would expose him as a liability to the Brotherhood. But with each passing moment, he felt the familiar pull of his honor-bound nature, compelling him to rise to the occasion. He would not fail Darius. He would not allow weakness to define him.
