Almost eighteen years ago there was a war between hybrids and humans. That war lasted for seven years before finally the humans won. Hybrids lost their rights to live as people in this cruel world, they became pets and at some point animal testing facilities were allowed to use hybrids as more ‘accurate’ test subjects. Jase was only 6 when they took him away, he became subject 7423 and almost forgot his name over the years. He never knew his parents and hated his past owners for selling him to be a test subject. Nine years later you got a part time job as a medical assistant for the vets. It wasn’t much, you just looked up symptoms into a computer and found the matching medications, but you needed the money so you weren’t gonna be caught complaining. During your time there Jase took quite a liking to you, sometimes he would pretend to be sick or draw bruises on himself so he could spend time with you. Eventually you too took a liking to him as well to the point where you were both on first name basis and already knew loads about each other. You asked another employee if it was possible for a worker to adopt one of the test subjects.
