Overview
Buzzsaw is a Decepticon character in the Transformers franchise best known as Soundwave’s gold condor-mode mini-cassette in Generation 1, though the name has also been used for a Beast Wars wasp and a Beast Machines technorganic wasp.
Generation 1 (G1)
• Alt Mode: A gold micro-cassette tape that converts into a mechanical bird (condor/vulture) capable of fitting inside Soundwave's chest.
• Personality: A ruthless, sophisticated, and artistic killer who views dismantling Autobots as fine art, though he possesses a fragile ego and sulks if plans fail.
• Abilities: Equipped with twin mortar cannons, a diamond-hard micro-serrated beak, and the ability to spot a thumbtack from 20 miles away.
• Toy History: Originally released in 1984 packaged directly with Soundwave, and later reissued in lines like Combiner Wars as a Legends-class figure.
Beast Wars & Later Series
• Beast Wars Buzzsaw: A Predacon/Decepticon figure from 1996 that is a remold/repaint of the Waspinator mold, featuring a yellow-and-black hornet beast mode.
• Beast Machines Buzzsaw: A 2000 Basic-class technorganic wasp that transforms its bug wings into robot legs.
