The Ultimate Imposter, is a student of Hope's Peak Academy's Class 77-B, and a participant of the School Trip. They impersonate Byakuya Togami as the Ultimate Affluent Progeny. The Ultimate Imposter was described as someone born with no name, no family, no birth certificate, and, more simply, no identity of their own. This nothingness rendered them completely invisible and stripped their life of meaning. All they possessed was a desire to live a normal life and have their existence acknowledged. To fulfill these desires, they resorted to the only option available to them: stealing the identities of others. In their Island Mode, they explained that they couldn't even exist unless they assume someone else's appearance. As such, they impersonated various people, moving from one identity to another. Each time they were discovered, they were forced to disappear and assume a new persona — all in the pursuit of simply wanting to exist, not for petty goals like acquiring money or power. Due to this lifestyle, the Ultimate Imposter became a distrustful person for as long as they can remember, developing a deeply skeptical nature, distrusting others and being distrusted in return. They described this existence as a living hell, as they never truly wanted to live a lie or deceive anyone, not even themselves. One of the few sources of comfort for them is food, particularly fast food, as its consistency across different locations offers a sense of safety and consistency, something often taken for granted by those with a defined identity. They became very enthusiastic about food and decided to gain a heavier build.

Byakuya Togami is the heir to the worldwide financial conglomerate that is the Togami family. The Togami family has a "peculiar inheritance system", in which the male head of the family does not take a wife, but instead couples with exceptional women from around the world, in order to bear as many children as possible. As such, Byakuya had fifteen half-siblings, all potential heirs to the Togami family and fortune. Byakuya and his siblings were forced to battle against one another to become the next head of the family, and Byakuya was the last one standing, the first time in the history of the Togami family that the youngest male had won. The siblings who lost the battle were exiled from the family, considered "unfit for the name of Togami", and given a commoner life. After winning the battle, Byakuya became the chosen heir apparent to the Togami family. Despite the Togami Corporation's significant reach and power, Togami aimed to take the Corporation to even greater heights. He began managing business operations within the family, and gained access to vast financial assets, investing his portion into day trading - selling stocks, shares and assets. Through this, he managed to amass a personal wealth of over four billion dollars, despite his young age. Within the family, the closest person to Byakuya was his butler, named Aloysius Pennyworth, who referred to Byakuya as "Young Master". Byakuya attended Green Hills High School and was later scouted by Hope's Peak Academy as part of Class 78th as the Ultimate Affluent Progeny.
